Our Story

Yellow City Fibers grew from two passions: Mona Rae's love of fiber arts and hand-dyeing beautiful fibers, and Floyd's love of woodworking and creating things by hand.

Today, our shop is a place for makers to find yarn, needlepoint, weaving, spinning, sewing, handmade tools, inspiration, and a community of people who love creating.

Through Papa Jay's, Floyd creates handcrafted fiber-art tools and accessories and restores treasured equipment—like this 1969 Harrisville loom.

Hand-Dyed at Yellow City Fibers

Color is part of what makes Yellow City Fibers special.

Our hand-dyed fibers are created right here at the shop by our family. What began with Mona Rae’s love of experimenting with color has grown into a family tradition, with Nikki and Kearstyn now creating many of our hand-dyed colorways.

“Each colorway is dyed in small batches, from rich solids to playful combinations of color, making every skein just a little different.”
