Updated: Dec 26, 2022

Of course you guessed it--I am new to blogging. I realized I had a lot to offer people who are interested in making or buying original one-of-kind items that are useful, durable, beautiful and fun!

MOST OF ALL-KNOWING YOU ARE MAKING AND/OR GIVING SOMETHING NO-ONE ELSE HAS IS LIKE NO OTHER FEELING IN THE WORLD! PEOPLE WANT TO FEEL SPECIAL AND GIVING THEM SOMETHING UNIQUE TELLS THEM YOU WERE THINKING OF THEM.

Visit my website for an idea of things you can create or my etsy shop:

CREATING SOMETHING ORIGINAL

I started reinventing clothing around fifty years ago. I wanted bell bottom pants--at age 12--I had just finished a class in school where I learned how to sew (kinda). I took my newly purchased pants my mother had bought and ripped out the seem from the knee down and found a piece of fabric (from my mother's stash) cut to fit and inserted this lovely bright pink material into ripped out sections of my NEW pants--I had my own pair of bell bottom pants and a very angry mother for a few reasons. :)

FIFTY YEARS LATER

I have invested a lot of time, energy, passion, money into creating many different items made out of a mulitude of various textiles: silk, chiffon, denim, faux leather, leather, cotton, organic cotton, and yes polyester--not my favorite. However, since COVID, we all found ourselves in uncertain times. For me, I needed an outlet for my energy, fears, and doubts. My outlet is creating things. I wanted to open an Etsy Shop--So I started making things from my fabric stash.

I started simple-- small grommet bags for your work in progress. It keeps your crochet or knitting projects neatly tucked away so your ball of yarn doesn't roll all over the place. The grommet hole allows the yarn to pass easily through.

LAST TWO YEARS I HAVE DISCOVERED CORK FABRIC/MATERIAL/CORK LEATHER

Overtime, I have migrated into different textiles including cork fabrics--some call it cork leather or cork from Portugal. I have used cork fabric to make various accessories and had some successes and some failures. It quickly became a love hate relationship for me because I didnt know what I was doing. I thought all cork fabric was the same--boy was I wrong. This turned out to be a costly mistake. In my future blogs I want to explore with you what I have learned and how to avoid spending money on the wrong kind of cork for your project.

I will discuss who, where, why, what--all the IN'S AND OUT'S of CORK FABRIC. All the lovely things you can make out of cork fabric and what cork fabric to use on your next project.

Cork purse, wallets, key fobs can be found in my ETSY shop
